Book of Equestria
So if you've been listening to me blather on over the last week or so, I've been working on what I've started calling the 'Book of Equestria' (working title of course, like how the Avengers movie is being called 'Group Hug'), which is hopefully going to be a fairly realistic, antique style book detailing canon information about Equestria and its history. It will most likely have a long and complicated name in the end, something like 'The Tales and Truths of Equestrian History'.
At first, I just planned to have a storybook version of the Tale of Nightmare Moon, the story told by Celestia in the first episode of MLP: FiM. However I quickly realised that there just wasn't enough stuff in that story to make a book that looked
Like This.
As it is the whole story is nineteen pages long. That's ten sheets of paper. Mind you, it's awesome, specially made paper, but it still isn't enough.
As such I've decided to start sending out pleas for help from fellow brony artists and storytellers alike in creating the tales and images necessary to make a book of a size significant enough to draw Twilight Sparkle's attention.
This will be quite a task.
In more detail, what I am asking for is artists willing to lend their works to creating a book much in the style of the book Twilight was seen reading the Tale of Nightmare Moon from; a combination of tales of the History of Equestria (hopefully, even a written version of the tale told in Heart's Warming Eve!) and a section dedicated to the facts about various characters, creatures, events and objects. Hopefully this will include a page for each of the Elements of Harmony (the jewellery AND the bearers), Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, and possibly even short descriptions of the various creatures in Equestria.
Consider it to be the end all and be all of Equestrian history books.
The talented
has already allowed me to use his
Nightmare Moon Coat of Arms, which I am extremely grateful for. It would be an absolute dream to fill the book with various works from all across the fandom as a tribute to the talented fans of the show.
I'm of course completely willing to give credit to anyone who donates works for the book, by listing each contributor in the book itself. I only ask that the works fit the theme of the book itself, and try to remain as faithful to the show as possible; unfortunately I will not be able to put any OC's in the book, nor any stories that make up facts. Embrace the vagueness of some aspects of the show as forgotten history! (For example, little is known of Starswirl the Bearded except for his part in creating spells and his tutelage of Clover the Clever... perhaps he was quite mysterious in his own time?)
Pass the message on if you can, fellow bronies!
